Cast Iron Figure from the 19th Century, St. Joseph with Child

This iron sculpture from the 19th Century is originally from a monastery in Mulhouse (France).

In a nunnery garden in Mulhouse that was closed down used to stand a St. Joseph sculpture from the 19th Century. This beautiful cast iron figure sculpture is characterised by its years. After seeing our exhibition in Gontenbad, a Brotherhood showed interest. The figure (with Jesus) was placed in the forecourt, fitting with the existing St. Bartholomew. The sculpture was treated similarly to St. Bartholomew, being sandblasted, zinc sprayed and patinated by a church restorer.
